I feel like I just read a condensed Victoria Holt novel, minus the intrigue, and I mean that in the most complimentary way! Lovely little vignette, and "Her husband had the poor taste to become lunch for the lion he was hunting..." gave me a chuckle (no disrespect to the poor late hunter).
