The voting for Week 6 of LJ Idol closes late Tuesday (or maybe it's early Wednesday?), and I don't have nearly enough votes to make me feel anywhere at ease with the stiff competition I've got in this group of talented authors. The entry is at

Voting is Open and I Would Appreciate Your Vote

Voting is now open for the latest story and I'd appreciate your vote if you read and enjoyed my Open Letter to My Husband. I've had many of you tell me that what I was saying rang a bell with you. I'm honored that I managed to engage you, and hope that I've merited your vote. Every one of those votes counts! I'll be reading over my own list and reading any tales I haven't managed to read over the past few days. I'm hoping to get my vote in before tomorrow evening (since I'm sure I'll have a tale or two to catch up on first).

And the People Spoke. The rights of all People were acclaimed and preserved. In the great lands of Maine and Maryland, all People of any sex now have a right to wed. In the great land of Minnesota the State Constitution may NOT be amended to state that marriage is only legal if it is between one man and one woman. The People in these states recognized and acknowledged that gay and lesbian relationships are legitimate in the eyes of the law.

And the People Spoke. In the lands of mountains - those lands named Colorado and Washington, the People may now possess a small amount of marijuana for recreational use. The measure didn't pass in Oregon, but baby steps - large baby steps - were taken.

This is my blog post for today. It's my day off and I'll be working on my NaNo for the day and attending my first NaNoWriMo Write-in at my local library tonight. It is my first and may also be my last social NaNo gathering, but I am actually looking forward to it. Have a phenomenal day filled with joy, hope, and accomplishments.

Exercise (or Exorcise) Your Rights

Taking a short break from NaNo to speak about something near and dear to my heart, I come to the point of tomorrow. For those of my friends who are in the US, tomorrow is election day. Now, there are many things that we can look forward to because of this day. One thing is the vitriolic and misleading commercials will finally cease. At this point I am just about ready to scream if I hear another one. Another thing that will happen is too many people who care only about toeing the party line will once again be sent to Congress, resulting in a Congress that is deadlocked and completely ineffective. And the third thing that will happen is that a President will be elected.
