Autumn is here and starting to be beautiful. This coming Sunday is the final day of Renaissance Faire and we'll be there from open to close. But yesterday was a day where we were pleasantly surprised about how long we decided to stay.

"Tuey" has done his juggling, fire eating and rope walking act at the
Minnesota Renaissance Festival for more than 30 years. He was one
of the only warm people at the Fest grounds yesterday.

We left home in the morning thinking that it would be a short day for us because it was COLD! Really COLD. When we left home in the morning it was 37 F when we left home (2.77 C) and capes were mandatory. I had on two shirts under my corset and wore a set of long pants underneath my skirt which is NOT a comfortable choice, but a necessary one. By the time we left at 4pm though, it was up to 64 F (17.7 C), so it was tolerable. The court was out in their furs, though. Although heat is miserable for them, these cool days are just perfect for their many layers and hoop skirts with bloomers. I was quite amazed by how many of the basic attendees I saw wandering around in summer clothing - short sleeved t-shirts and shorts or sleeveless summer dresses. I guess I'm more practical, or the dragon in me is more cold-blooded. I'm sure my friends would say that cold-blooded is probably closer to the truth.

Saturday morning was magic. I awakened to a world that had been touched by a magic wand and hoarfrost covered every surface. After I got to the shop, I put on my coat, put my keys in my pocket, and grabbed my camera. I'm sharing the photos below.

There are times when I'm so happy that I am not a Minnesota Vikings fan. For those of my friends overseas, this is an American Football team from my state and, usually, they are not too bad. But this season is ridiculously bad - we currently are the 2nd worst team in the entire National Football League. And yesterday the Vikings lost again.

I was supposed to spend yesterday cleaning my house. I did...but I also spent more than four hours just writing my next chapter. OK, I was bad. I did errands in the morning that needed to be done and I got my three loads of laundry complete, changed the sheets on the bed and I did some minor touch-up in the bathroom that I wanted to do. But I had really wanted to tackle the den and that didn't happen. I have two cleaning days left until Sharon arrives next week, and it doesn't look good.

DH has a pre-season football game on Saturday night. I was planning to go to the State Fair with him for dinner and roaming. I'll have to see what happens. I pre-purchased the tickets, but there usually isn't a problem re-selling them outside the gates, it's just one more thing that I'll have to do next week unless DH changes his mind.

And my cousin sent photos of her daughter's wedding. I was originally planning to go to the wedding, but reality hit my bank balance and I knew it would be too much money, so I stayed behind and did Irish Faire instead. It was all good. So now her daughter, a 100% California girl, is living in Nebraska. Quite a change. It looks like it was a lovely wedding though.
