Saturday morning was magic. I awakened to a world that had been touched by a magic wand and hoarfrost covered every surface. After I got to the shop, I put on my coat, put my keys in my pocket, and grabbed my camera. I'm sharing the photos below.

So today is my day off (although I have a long list of errands to accomplish) and tonight I'll meet the Chickie at my local Barnes & Noble for an author event with Laurie King.

Yesterday's goal was cleaning the bathroom. I got 50% (well, probably closer to 40%) of it done, and on my long list of places to go and people to see, I got 60% done. OMG - I have to give myself a failing grade for yesterday's accomplishments.

But, I did get the shower majorly washed even though I still want to tackle it again before Sharon arrives. I got the furnace filters, went to Barnes & Noble (had a 15% off coupon - spent too much but happy with my books), got to the art supply store and ended up with items that I will watercolor for this year's Solstice cards and two new specialized Winsor & Newton Series 7 000 micro brushes (call me happy), got groceries. I decided to leave the chocolate until next week.

In writing (well, I had to do something besides just laundry and waiting for chemicals to do their thing on my shower walls) I finished Section 1, Chapter 5 and started Section 1, Chapter 6. I'm dreadfully afraid of boring people to death, and I have, of course, a lot of editing to do before anyone else sees it, but I also have to remind myself that I am writing this because I feel compelled to tell her story and that it doesn't matter if I don't gather a following because of it. I also got two loads of laundry done and clean sheets on the bed.

Because of general frustration, I finally took a serious hunt and found my copy of Karen Wynn Fonstad's "The Atlas of Middle Earth". I was trying to figure out some travel times and hoped that her maps would be helpful. And they will be - but not in Valinor. So I called on a friend who has never yet let me down. I told Fiondil my issue and my speculated time frame, and he came back to me with the timeframe that he has worked out over the years. We're in accord, so that's a relief, and huge THANK YOU's go out to him and those few other friends who answer Emails promptly and generously share their knowledge. I don't know what I would do without all of you!

And thanks to all of you who commented on yesterday's "Tilting at Windmills" post.  I agree that it is pathetic that a firm could take such advantage of us, but it is partly our fault that DH didn't catch the charge and that I didn't pursue it stronger earlier.  But it should be ended now.  We'll find out for sure when our next bank statement comes.  Thanks again!

I actually printed out the supply lists for my classes next week.  Now I just have to actually read them and pack accordingly.

Yesterday I bought the Blu-Ray extended edition DVD's of Lord of the Rings.  Actually, my DH bought them because he will be writing me a check to pay for them.  EXPENSIVE!!!  But of course, with three hours of addtional "stuff" I had to get them.  Addict?  Moi?  I also noticed that I get digital download rights for a year with this, and I will certainly take advantage of that!  I also bought a couple of light-weight short-sleeved shirts for the shop because I only have a single one that's in wearable condition.  Wearable is highly recommended - LOL.  I also pre-ordered the DVD for Game of Thrones, another thing that DH is paying for.  I still don't know when it will be released, but I'll have it coming to me when it is.  With my Barnes & Noble membership discount and free shipping, the price was great!

I wanted to get to Barnes & Noble yesterday to buy a copy of Empire.  The current issue has Gandalf and Bilbo on the cover and goes into some detail about the making of the Hobbit movie.  Unfortunately, my time simply didn't allow for the trip.  But I got a lot done yesterday.  I had a 40% off coupon for Dick Blick and ended up buying a bright red irredescent paint for use with air brush.  I have been wanting to do a lacquer-type finish on one of my boxes for more than a year.  So I'll sand one of them down and start playing.  I really enjoyed playing with the airbrush for my Big Bang picture which I will show all of you more towards the end of the month.  I want to play some more with the airbrush and explore some additional possibilities.  Fun!

Today I get to go glass shopping. I have an idea for my Beading For a Cure kit, and to do it I need to play with glass. "So" disappointing (just ignore this big grin on my face).

Yesterday, my DH was awakened by my father-by-marriage phoning him shortly after 7am. He complained that his power had gone out shortly after 4am. So, I got to phone the utility company and report the outage. They came over and checked, and it was actually in the wiring going into the fuse box, so then I had to call an electrician to come over and get that fixed. Well, code won't allow them to do anything but a temporary fix because the electrical system needs to be upgraded and brought up to code. So next week the electrician will go over the house with DH and his father to give them an estimate about bringing the wiring up to code. Anyway, when I arrived home last night, there was a stunning red rose in front of my place at dinner with a note thanking me for my help. Sometimes my DH comes through in spades!

I have two stories in for crit right now, and I'm actually happy with both of them. So those will be posting onto ErulisseDances soon, if you are subbed to that board. Look for them by the end of the week.
