In the mid 1980's I was already running my store, but I was located on the third floor of a maze-like building, hard to find. My DH had a large space there where he was running his own business and we remodeled and started mine in a part of his space. This was a learning platform. I had a large oak desk with a comfortable chair on the far side of it and I had a large coffeepot that was brewed fresh every morning. A lot of great people sat in that chair, some of them for hours at a time, and we talked and talked. That's where I first met Floyd.

I rarely talk about my family, but meet my Sioux family in pics and text below the cut )

I got LASIK in my right eye in 2001 and my final follow-up appointment for that was in 2002. But since then I haven't had my eyes examined. For several years I found reading to be very difficult and worked with audio books instead of written ones, but when I got my bifocals I read more, and when I got my NookColor I was back to my normal voracious reading habits. I'm very pleased about that. But as I increased my reading, my prescription for my glasses got more and more out of date. I've needed new glasses for quite a while and finally broke down and set up an appointment with my eye doctor for an exam. I have that today and I can start getting my glasses relensed with a new prescription soon. That will make me very happy! My eyeglass frames are unique and custom made, so I don't replace the glasses completely, rather I get new lenses for my frames instead.

So my father-by-marriage has eye surgery tomorrow and my DH and I have flipped days off this week.

Calming pic and text below the cut... )
I searched for something calm to look at for today's picture and this is
what I found.  Isn't this just wonderful?  I wish I was there right now!

Today I want to complete my enamel collage for Big Bang.  I mounted the enamel to the backing yesterday morning.  When I look at it, I'm pleased, so that's what is important.  I want to darken the screws by painting them today, as well as finish the collage portion and cut out the fancy lettering using my Silhouette machine.  Then I just need to photograph it and send it in to the mods.  If I can get this completed, I can work on my beadwork for the rest of the week (starting to run tight on time on that project) and make charms for the conference next week on the 6th, my last studio day before leaving for MCWC.  Oy!    I hope you day is a bit less hectic than mine is right now :-)
