I have a self-imposed deadline of Wednesday night to have my o-fic complete, edited, and ready to send to the publisher. I'm going a bit crazy because my time to work on this has been minimal. I can't work on it at night, even though it is G-rated, because I get interrupted by DH all the time. He doesn't see why there is a problem with him coming downstairs to tell me what's on TV or comment on something that occurred to him. I'm going crazy because I can't get more than 15 minutes in a row that isn't interrupted so I can't bury myself in my fictional world because I keep getting dredged back into this one. I'll work instead of read at the coffee shop this morning and then continue at the store. I need to get this done, and I need to seriously edit, so Wednesday's studio day will be spent doing that. I really want to at least present this to the publisher. Whether it gets accepted or not ... it's doing something like this - branching out from fanfic where I can only post online to something that may be in print - it's a new frontier for me and I like the challenge. Oh joy, I'm living in a pressure cooker again - LOL.

I'm going to start out by wishing my country, the USA, a Happy Flag Day. On this date in 1777 the "Stars and Stripes" were officially adopted as the flag of our nation. Through good times and bad, good decisions and very questionable ones, this flag has flown proudly. The US may or may not be the best nation on earth in your view. All I know is that I am pleased to be living here and consider myself lucky that I was able to.

So, on to more mundane things. )

So, the weekend begins today. I will work, of course, on Saturday (today) because that's what I do - LOL. But after 5 pm my time is my own. I'll pick up Italian food for dinner tonight (yummy) and then relax for the evening.

I have a day off today, so I might get a chance to get my illustration done for the LOTR Community Art Challenge, I need to do some samples for my upcoming lecture, and I want to rewrite the drabble I was discussing yesterday and see if I can be happier with it.

As promised, life is back to normal today. The confetti has been put away and the lessons learned from the 2011 MEFAs are now catalogued in my mind. Time to start making my list of stories I want to nominate when the 2012 nominations open up. But for now, back to concentrating on writing and on daily life, starting with a dental check-up this morning. I'm in the mood to give you pretty pics today, so here are two pics of the Northern Lights.

I don't think I've ever gone into a holiday season quite so disorganized. I'm happily writing along here, and my cards are 33% made, my address list is not assembled, and what am I doing? I'm listening to Swordspoint on audio book (wonderful, wonderful, wonderful!!! and highly recommended) and writing two stories that are a bit out of my box. I have a repair sitting next to me that was due last week and that I'm promising for next week, and I have so much still to do. Do I not care?

more ranting and fun pics below - just warning you - LOL )

So the holidays are creeping up. Heck...they're not creeping up, they are rushing up. My bag of goodies purchased for DH is growing. I've been getting things for him over the past few months, and have one more gift to get at the hardware store when I get some time next week. We are now solidly into our holiday season, with the store now open seven days a week, so my mid-week day off becomes even more important to me.

Like gifts, take a look at the bow and boxes below... )

So after more than two hours of frustrated work to get the lettering onto my Big Bang collage, I finally succeeded in exactly what I wanted.  I may still go over the lettering with my wood burner, but I'll test that out with my signature panel on the back of the piece first.

The central image is an antique ivory comb that was
heavily carved in the center.  It's a stunning piece!

Yesterday I thought I would work up some userpics and banners for my Middle Earth Fan Fiction award nominees, and noticed that I had been nominated for a sixth story.  Yippee!  I'm so incredibly honored and just floored that anyone would find my writings moving enough to nominate.  Thrilled doesn't even begin to describe my feelings.  So I worked up a banner for Morning Song shown above.  I'm still working on my user pics for my LJ pages.  So, I'm doubly happy.  Unfortunately, I'm looking at four days in a row of work, definitely a downer.  But...I've got good books to read on my NookColor, good coffee and oatmeal for the morning, and only the chapter headings still to draw for my Big Bang things (and those are bonus, not required), so all is well.  Now to get beading on my BFAC piece for the year...

So today at 7am I drop my car off to get the brakes redone, the alignment taken care of and something to do with a shock absorber.  I'm not going to enjoy putting this on my credit card, that's for sure, but it's the only option I've got since I don't have the money for this repair any other way.

I love Escher's work.  Every time I look at it, I think of my
friend Seth, who gave me a book of Escher's work many years ago.

Because I had to go back to the shop at 4 yesterday afternoon, I didn't get as much done as I wanted.  But I did work a bit on the illustrations for Darth's Big Bang story.  I'm still trying to get things pinned down before I start the actual work and I'm still trying to pin down what media I want to use for this.  I only need to produce a single illustration to meet my contract, but who knows?  Have a creative day today...I'm already running late and it's only 4:30 am.

I'm focused on my schedule for the next two weeks until I leave for Bead & Button Show and...I'm out of time.

More Below the Cut... )
I have stories to write, of course, but I also have artwork to produce for Big Bang.  At the time that Big Bang was accepting signups, I wasn't writing at all, and even now the thought of that many words is not necessarily something I would like to do.  So, after showing the moderators the types of art I do, I was accepted to sign up for the artwork aspect.  That means that I illustrate or depict one author's text in at least a single image, multiples are my own choice.  I was assigned someone whose work I am already familiar with and I am so pleased with the pairing.  I have begun to work on preliminary sketches, but I'm trying to figure out what media I want to work in and just got my timeframes and sizes from the moderators.  I'll be working on this during some of my off time during the B&B Show, since I have two days where I have free time available.  So, in my current life, everything revolves around my upcoming trip to Milwaukee.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my friend Esteliel.  For several years now, you have totally rocked my world and I hope you have a fantastic year ahead of you.
