So, I've been trying to be good to myself and treadmill every day again. I'll try to make it a habit, which I know from studies means to do it for at least 30 days to make it ingrained. I have been doing a quick run when I wake at 3:30 am, but today I'm pushing things off until I return home around 10 am instead so that I can take a bit longer and not feel as rushed. Then I'll settle down to continuing edits on my AinA (and reading the crits that Keiless gave me as Beta yesterday) and working on a beta for Lai. It's very much looking like this will be a sit on my behind day, and that's why I want to take a bit longer run before I become sedentary.

So I now begin my journey towards my 59th birthday. Eeek! It is such a large number. I grew up as a child of the 1960's and don't think I've ever truly left my hippie days behind. One of the sentiments that we said so blithely in those days was to never trust anyone over the age of 30. Well, I've left that age far behind me. I guess I can't trust myself any more. Hmmm....

Today is my birthday and even though I have to work, I plan to enjoy my day and continue writing as much as I can in the back room instead of working on the sales floor. That's being VERY naughty, but so it goes. I'm also reading a good book on my NookColor, so if I'm on the sales floor tagging or packaging, I can sometimes manage to have my Nook next to me and read another chapter. That would make me happy today and I'm all for happy today.

what am I going to do today? Check it out below the cut. )

I've got two stories in the pipeline that have to be completed by early next week, so I've got some work to do on them this morning. It is a holiday weekend, many people didn't have to work yesterady so we had a nice regular day at the shop - lots of hand-holding and helping people out but a really fun and interesting day. Ideally today will also be a busy one, we really need a good week this week and the potential is there but we won't know until I lock the door at 5 pm

I'll start today by wishing Albert Einstein a very happy birthday. Just think of where we would be today without his revolutionary Theory of Relativity. Now, I know I share this list with a lot of VERY intelligent people, and I also know that I am average, so if I say things wrong, please forgive me. But I think that E=MCª is pretty kewl. The fact that something that deep that explains so much can be expressed so beautifully and, thus, penetrate the general mindview of the populace is nothing short of amazing. So here's to you, Einstein. Great tag line! Great idea! And, BTW, thanks for helping my Uncle gain admittance to the US. It was a great thing and your letters of recommendation opened the immigration door for him.

Happy Trails? For what? Read below. )

Yesterday at this time they were forecasting snow - 6"-12" of the white stuff to hit us. But we got rain and sleet all night instead. It has just now (4:30 am) changed over to snow which we're supposed to have for most of the day. So over an icy and slushy mess, we'll get snow. It's going to be a very icy day and treacherous driving. I'll get my errands done as soon as possible and then settle down at my computer. I started printing my overheads at the shop yesterday and was having variable success, so I will be continuing working on that today because I have to get this nailed. If this doesn't work, I'll print detailed hi-def photo prints and then copy them onto overheads at the copy shop tomorrow am. One thing is for sure, I'm going through a lot of ink. But the overheads I've done are beautiful. Things are falling into place - none too soon :-)

Yes, I'm drawing...but you can't see it. Why? Read on... )

My DH had a really nice birthday. He had requested a Candy Cane pie, so I picked one of those up first thing in the morning. I gave him my replacement iPod from the replacement I got after my iPod bit the dust at Thanksgiving (it seems so long ago - LOL).

Today is July 4th, Independence Day for the United States.  The US has its problems, and can be overbearing and achingly self-confident, but I wouldn't choose any other place to live.  It is a beautiful land, broad and varied, and the majority of the people are warm hearted and friendly.  I feel extremely fortunate to live in the USA, and will be celebrating via looking at patio blocks (we need to upgrade) and a few drinks later today.  In the meanwhile, here are some fireworks to celebrate a large birthday.  Happy Birthday USA.

So, the electricity is being re-done at my father-by-marriage's home.  It is rather amazing what can be found when people are climbing around in floor joists and ceiling passages.

Love these arguing lizards - so cute!

Today I'll get the shop up and running and then take my car to the repair shop.  I won't actually be getting the work done until tomorrow, but I wanted to let them get a look at what they will need to do so that they can order the parts and have everything ready to go tomorrow am.  I have a bunch of errands to do today, so I can't spare the car today, but tomorrow DH can drop me off at work a bit earlier than normal, I have my laptop and my Nook, so all will be fine.

Happy Birthday, Zhie!

And birthday waves go out to my friend Zhie.  She lives in Milwaukee, and I am looking forward to actually seeing her when I am there for Bead & Button Show in a little more than a week.  Tick tock...I'm running out of time to pack and get my act together - LOL.

I'm focused on my schedule for the next two weeks until I leave for Bead & Button Show and...I'm out of time.

I have stories to write, of course, but I also have artwork to produce for Big Bang.  At the time that Big Bang was accepting signups, I wasn't writing at all, and even now the thought of that many words is not necessarily something I would like to do.  So, after showing the moderators the types of art I do, I was accepted to sign up for the artwork aspect.  That means that I illustrate or depict one author's text in at least a single image, multiples are my own choice.  I was assigned someone whose work I am already familiar with and I am so pleased with the pairing.  I have begun to work on preliminary sketches, but I'm trying to figure out what media I want to work in and just got my timeframes and sizes from the moderators.  I'll be working on this during some of my off time during the B&B Show, since I have two days where I have free time available.  So, in my current life, everything revolves around my upcoming trip to Milwaukee.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my friend Esteliel.  For several years now, you have totally rocked my world and I hope you have a fantastic year ahead of you.

I had such a nice day off.  I didn't get to read quite as much as I wanted, but I did finish one book and begin the next in the current series that I'm buried in.

Speaking of Survivor - congratulations go out to Boston Rob who played what was probably the best game of Survivor that I've seen in 22 seasons of the show.  He won the $1 million and also won the $100,000 fan choice award.  The other two admitted that they got there because he brought them there, and he worked hard to get there, but he won immunity when it counted and made alliances that worked.  Well done!

Blogspot has been having some "issues" over the past few days and I have been unable to post.  I really prefer to post here first, copying this over to my other two blogs, so I'm grateful that things are working again.

I have been writing like crazy, and reading lots - head-deep in a series that has me totally pulled in.  But NookColor just expanded their hardware and I also broke down and downloaded the app "Angry Birds" to play on it.  Fun.  But I still tend to dive into a book rather than play games.  I also downloaded an app for a digital drawing program and that will be fun to play with.  All told, the two apps were $5 combined, so I figured I could stretch that far.

I have to thank everyone for the many birthday wishes I received.  I had a fabulous day and my DH and I will go out on Sunday to celebrate with a nice dinner out and then come home and watch the finale of Survivor for this season.  We made a decision on an electrician for my father-by-marriage, and are doing a final interview with a new accountant next week, so things are progressing well.  I hope your week has gone well and that Blogger has come back to life once again.

So, it's my birthday, combined with my day off, combined with my studio day today.  I have one story being beta read by a friend in Arizona, and another that I will post later today.

Photos and Odd Historic Fact below... )

We had clouds like this over our western suburbs last night when
we had hail and tornado warnings.  Ah...spring in Minnesota.

But for having spent years walking this earth, I doubt I would change much.  This past year has been wonderfully growth-oriented.  I've started great projects, continued work on my artistic focus, gained many new internet friends, and started writing.  I really can't complain because it's all good.

As a note of historic significance, on this date in 1659, the Massachusetts Bay Colony Puritans banned Christmas celebrations claiming that they were too Pagan.  Love it - thank goodness we loosened up a bit from those days :-)  Enjoy your day - I know I'll enjoy mine.

Well, I took a hunt for the perfect pic for you. It's not even one that should be seen behind closed doors (I'm so proud of my hunting abilities - LOL).

So, Heart of Oshun, I hope you have a wonderful and very special day, celebrate with friends and family, and do at least one truly outrageous thing to look back on during the next year. Your pic is below the cut.

Happy Birthday Heartofoshun
