We had a quiet Easter. We stayed home because we really didn't have the money to go out for a lunch or drinks, but we had a nice day. While I edited stories and put them up on my archive on Fairie, DH watched The Masters golf tournament and the baseball game while playing Lord of the Rings Online. I even joined him in an orc killing spree later in the afternoon to continue working on increasing a trait that my hunter wants to achieve.

Although I usually would have posted on Monday, it was a day off for me to celebrate the New Year, and I spent it at my computer, writing and playing a bit of Lord of the Rings Online. I'll be playing catch-up all week with posts that I need to respond to or at least read, but it was SO worth it!

I like starting my week on a high note, and I'm very up for the upcoming week because I got a lot done yesterday and already this morning. And I'll have a chance to see the sunrise again because we're back onto standard time. It's hard to argue with a positive attitude - LOL.

We had a relaxing Sunday. I did a bit of editing and reading, played LOTRO with DH for several hours, and we had Subway for dinner (love the price and the food - hard to beat). In fact, I can't think of anything earthshaking that I did at all. I think that's nice for a change :-)

I have a feeling DH will want me to play LOTRO this weekend and I have to get my character up to date with her weaponry first. *sigh* Every time they do an update, you have to reassign things to the Legendary Weapons and it is a PITA! But, I do want to play in the new area, so I have to do it.

So yesterday was my "day off". Aside from errands, I worked a bit on my Game of Thrones original character for the deadline next week.

So, the Isenguard Expansion for Lord of the Rings Online came live yesterday. He downloaded it as soon as dinner was over yesterday and started playing. I think he finally went to sleep around 1:30 this morning.

So I picked up DH's new computer yesterday. I had it set up by 8:30 am and started working on getting his programs installed properly. It runs Win 7, so is more up-to-date than any of our other computers.

DH got a new graphic board put in back in March. It's dying, so I have a phone call in to my Computer Guru to find out when I can drop the CPU by for a fix.

A quick mention that today is my 32nd wedding anniversary. Although I was tempted to wear black, I was good and just dressed for warmth since we are experiencing a non-seasonal cold snap for a few days. Anyway...Happy Anniversary to me - LOL. Now, on to the fun stuff...

So I drilled the attachment portions of my new enameling project yesterday.

Pics and Text Below the Cut... )
I would love to claim that my own enamels are neater than
these, but I know better.  However, those that I have on my
shelves are more organized...does that count?

Another author friend has joined LOTRO and will be playing with us.  I am finding it highly amusing that I have this wonderful group of friends who I've met over the past year or two, and a little group that I can play with on Sundays and sometimes during the week.  It makes me quite happy.

We've been playing LOTRO since the original Beta, so
it's been several years.  Now we have characters on two
different servers.  When the cap level increases, we'll probably
go back to our original server and get our main characters up
to level 75.

I'm absolutely exhausted today so I'll hope that everyone reading has a creative weekend with friends and family and "Happy Father's Day" to those of you lucky enough to still have their fathers with them.

My clock is ticking away and my time is running out.  I had a wonderfully laid-back two days off, which was great, but I leave for Bead & Button Show on Saturday and I haven't gathered my materials, supplies, or packed anything yet.

This lovely little nest was built last week.  The parents are busy trying to
take care of the eggs.  I hope they don't get too bothered by the lawn
mower because we'll be cutting the lawn again on Thursday.  The light is
in front of my front door.  The pic isn't great because I didn't want to
get too close.

The weekend was quiet.  We got the lawn mowed, but other chores that we wanted to do didn't happen because the weather didn't cooperate.  So we spent most of two days playing Lord of the Rings Online and had a great time.  Then we grilled burgers for Sunday night and I made Anduille sausages for Monday night dinner.  Too good!  Of course, I gained three pounds eating all of that, but I'll have that back off within a day or so of normal eating.  I don't regret a single bite!  Now...back to the grind...

I had such a nice day off.  I didn't get to read quite as much as I wanted, but I did finish one book and begin the next in the current series that I'm buried in.

Speaking of Survivor - congratulations go out to Boston Rob who played what was probably the best game of Survivor that I've seen in 22 seasons of the show.  He won the $1 million and also won the $100,000 fan choice award.  The other two admitted that they got there because he brought them there, and he worked hard to get there, but he won immunity when it counted and made alliances that worked.  Well done!

So, I have a Spring cold.  My sinuses won't stop draining, my head hurts, I have body aches, even my eyes hurt.  I can't take the day off to sleep because Chickie has doctor appointments scheduled for today so she can't take my shift for me, so I'll just have to work through this.  But I feel really icky.  This started coming down on me on Saturday, and yesterday, Sunday, I didn't go out at all, had a very restless night's sleep, and although I played LOTRO for five hours, I pulled off the network at 5pm our time, meaning that I missed the chance to play with my California friend, Aearwen again - the second weekend in a row.

I just feel crappy.  So, rather than burden anyone with more details, I'll just sign off for today and hope that tomorrow will be better.

I was very proud of myself.  I knew I didn't have any money to spare, so I went to the ACC Show knowing I could not indulge.  Fortunately there wasn't a lot that I was heavily tempted with.

Pics and Art Below the Cut )

Seeka combines laser-cut stainless steel, resin epoxy and Swarovski crystals into small works of art.  They do jewelry and Judaica items, all very colorful and whimsical.

Jon Michael Route uses different formulas of patination combined with shaping and texturing to create amazing wall pieces.  It is wonderul use of the properties of color and metal.  I'm in love.

Peggy and Steve Kittleson make amazing kaleidoscopes - a love of mine for my entire life.  I could happily have spent hours and hours at their booth, looking at each kaleidoscope they offered and would have had to be physically pulled away.  As it was, my DH had to get me from there twice.  I have an amazing kaleidoscope that I purchased when my mother died, but these were also well worth looking at.

Karen Hibbs make amazing stained glass works incorporating fossils and having a very primordial feel to them.  Both my DH and I fell in love with her work.  Too pricey for us right now, but one of the few art pieces we have agreed on in many years.

Dan Neil Barnes specializes in art glass works for walls and decor.  The works range in size, but many are quite large and absolutely stunning when lit.  Wonderful work capturing light.

And Dan Ray captures nature in metal.  He takes leaves and coats them in patinated metal to create wearable jewelry.  Unfortunately his web site didn't have the style that I really fell in love with - he had some Dawn Redwood from Muir Forest in California that was exceptional.

And the weekend ended by spending several hours playing LOTRO with my friend Aearwen from California.  The three of us had a great time getting to know each other a bit more and killing wicked things in Middle Earth.  Sunday was wonderful...but now it's back to the grind :-)

My DH managed to do a serious crash to his computer yesterday afternoon. At least one of his graphics cards is fried, the keyboard and mouse are completely non-responsive, and windows won't boot properly.

I am nose-deep in Ellen Kushner's novel "Swordspoint". I usually wait to see what gets recommended to me over time and I had at least five different friends highly recommend this book to me. So I bought it for my NookColor and am totally entrapped and entranced. I have other books on my wait list - cash is very tight right now so I couldn't indulge heavily. But I guess I'll have things to look forward to :-) Have a creative day. Allow yourself to curl up in a chair with a cup of coffee or tea and read at least a chapter in a good book. It's well worth the time.

I had a very relaxing Sunday.  Caught up with my current stories, I have two being looked over by my writer's group right now, and I also got one posted to a monthly contest.  That last one won't be able to be public until next month.

The Prancing Pony in Bree is quite large with many
entrances and a huge bar area.  Here you find Strider,
and other characters necessary to move on in the game.

The Tolkien Weekly challenge for this week (Spiders) has me stumped, but I know that won't last long.  Things are already starting to move through my head as possibilities.

To be honest, when I have a nice quiet weekend, I don't have a lot to report on my blog.  But, I'm really not having any problem with that since I've done plenty of complaining over the past few weeks, so it is a relief to not have anything to qvetch about :-)  I hope you also had a wonderful weekend and I wish you a calm and quiet week to finish your income taxes if you have not already filed them.
